ITL Aqualiner Installation Method for Earthern Channels
1.
PURPOSE
To outline the method for installation of ITL Aqualiner to existing earthern channels
2.
SCOPE
For all lining of in situ earthern channels used within water or waste containment and or distribution structures using the ITL Aqualiner.

SAFETY INFORMATION
- ITL Aquaseal powder contains cement – use P2 mask and glasses/goggles to avoid inhalation and/or contact with mucous membranes
- Wear gloves for handling of ITL Aquaseal, wash with water if contact made with skin
6.
RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE
The ITL Aqualiner system should be included in a regular visual inspection program to ensure liner integrity
- For removal of silt and related material, use light rubber tracked vehicles with silt vacuum systems
7.
PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLATION
Prepare section for works
- Isolate water flow to channel basin or aqueduct section with sandbags etc.,
- Existing channel to be reinstated to required channel profile as specified by civil enginee
- Dig anchor channels for liner support
Installation of ITL Aqualiner
Roll lengths to be determined from drawings to ensure
most efficient panel placement
For corners the ITL Aqualiner to be cut in consideration of the channel arcs
Panels joint stripped to be joined with adhesive
Panels join strip to be 150mm, lap joins to be coated with ITL Aquaseal
Panels to be placed on top of retaining wall in the anchor trench, contractor to secure using traditional fill compactions
ITL Aqualiner to be batten fixed to existing concrete retaining wall and headwork structures.
Application of ITL Aquaseal
- mixed ITL Aquaseal and spray applied as specified
- apply ITL Aquaseal over the entire surface area of the aqueduct to a nominal depth of 2 mm
- do not apply to a depth greater than 3 to 4 mm to avoid shrink cracking
- at the top of either side of the aqueduct, headwall and ancillary structures apply masking tape to have a uniform line between existing concrete material and ITL Aquaseal coated section
- if the nominated area is not integrated to a headwall structure, key in a leading-edge to the aqueduct so as to prevent any likelihood of water flow under the ITL Aquaseal coated surface
- allow 3 to 4 days to cure in normal weather prior to opening to intended use
- The coated area should be visually inspected to ensure full ITL Aquaseal coverage over the section.
